Indonesian Cultural Night(ICN) 2006 is a theatrical performance of dance and music presenting its audience with the rich and deep traditions of Indonesia. We will take you through a spectrum of the different facets of Indonesia's cultural wealth. Do not miss this opportunity to experience it all.

Tari Kipas - (Fan dance) is a traditional court dance of the Sulawesi island. This dance is traditionaly danced by the princeses of the region to portray joy and delight. A traditional Fan is used in this dance as the name suggests. ICN present to you a medley of two Tari kipas styles. Makasar and the other from Manado; both regions within Sulawesi.

Rampe Aceh - Dance of a Thousand Hands An ensemble of men and women, perfectly lined up in a row, their arms weaving complex patterns as the tempo quickens. From Gayo Highlands of Aceh on the island of Sumatra, the Saman dance was originally performed to celebrate noble occasions, as well as to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. It is an electrifying blend of dance and music, truly a feast for the eyes.

Tari Betawi - Betawi is a name often used in indonesia for the region of greater Jakarata. One will notice that the Betawi music is upbeat and very flirtatious. Like the music the Betawi dance is also flurtations and rythmic.

Tari Padang (Plate/Umbrella dance) - Padang is a city in West Sumatra. This dance is a medley of two traditional dances of that area, Tari Piring(Plate Dance) and Payung(Umbrella Dance). The fusion of this two dances portray the beautiful region of West Sumatra and their distinct art of dance.

Angklung Music - Anklung(Chime) is a traditional indonesian instrument. It is made of wood and usually hand made by a crafter. The precision of the crafter define the tone of these instruments. Indonesian folks, play the angklung in a big group or solo. Indonesian musicians will perform popular folk peices.

Klono - Only a few classical Javanese pieces like the Klono dance are court dances. They are traditionally performed in the royal palace for the entertainment of the royal and their guests. The Klono dance is a solo dance depicting a Javanese prince who is falling in love. In the Klono, the dancer expresses his emotions, intentions and admirations for his true love.
